Ever since political parties were devised, we have defined ourselves by them. We have divided ourselves with them. Generally speaking, Democrats have been identified with protecting workers while Republicans have long been identified as protectors of business/commerce. For at least the past 100 years, the lines between the two major parties has become increasingly blurred.

Politics versus Principles

The foundation of the Constitution of the United States is a set of principles/values that can be traced back to the Bible. Our Constitution requires ethics and morality for it to work and succeed.

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
- John Adams, Second President of the United States.
The Democrats progress with a more and more liberal agenda while the Republicans, as a result of a policy of compromise, has also progressed to the left. Clearly, the Republican party, the party that stood for the Republic, has compromised their principals in favor of politics. The line between the Democrat and Republican parties have become very blurred.
"The only difference between the Democrat and Republican parties is that the Democrats are on the High Speed Rail to socialism and the Republicans are on AMTRAK." - Rodney Spooner
While the federal government has suffered from lower and lower approval ratings, the shear frustration of the broken political process brought Mr. Barack Hussein Obama to power with his campaign of Hope and Change. But almost as soon as Mr. Obama was elected, and he started revealing his 'fundamental transformation of America', the tide quickly started turning against him and the Democrat controlled Senate and House of Representatives.

Rise of the Tea Party

It was not the the color of Obama's skin but instead his policies and the content of his character that gave rise to the Tea Party movement which changed the political landscape and Congress in the 2010 election and it continues to grow today.

There are, of course many other lesser known political parties focused on various political issues including the Libertarian Party, Green Party, Constitution Party, America First Party, Communist Party USA, Freedom Socialist Party, Independent American Party, National Socialist Movement, Pirate Party, Socialist Action, Socialist Alternative, Socialist Equality Party, United States Marijuana Party, Worker's World Party, just to name a few of the 36 political parties - not including the numerous regional parties listed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_States (2/14/2014).
